Art lovers are invited to experience the beauty of Western Australia's landscapes through the eyes of talented local artists when the highly anticipated Approaching Landscapes exhibition returns to Miami Plaza Shopping Centre in Mandurah this August.
Now in its fifth year, the annual exhibition has become a much-loved community event, attracting thousands of visitors and earning a reputation as one of the region's most successful and well-attended art showcases. The exhibition is presented by the Mandurah Plein Air Artists, whose annual "Approaching Landscapes" exhibitions have been held at Miami Plaza since 2022 and have consistently generated strong community support, sales and commissions for participating artists.
This year's exhibition will feature 18 accomplished local artists, each presenting a stunning collection of original works inspired by the landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes that define our unique region and beyond. Visitors can expect an impressive display of colour, light and atmosphere, with artworks capturing everything from tranquil coastal scenes and sweeping rural vistas to vibrant urban environments.
Located in the central mall area of Miami Plaza, the exhibition provides an accessible and welcoming gallery experience for shoppers and visitors alike. The convenient setting allows the community to engage with original art in a relaxed environment while meeting some of the artists behind the works.
Over the years, Approaching Landscapes has developed a loyal following. Many visitors return annually discovering new artworks and supporting local creative talent including patrons, David Templeman and Lisa Munday, and a variety of other local councillors and Mandurah City Staff members.
The exhibition has become known not only for the quality and diversity of the artworks on display but also for fostering meaningful connections between artists and the wider community. Previous exhibitions have featured more than 150 original works and have provided opportunities for visitors to meet artists and purchase unique pieces directly.
The participating artists draw inspiration from the natural beauty of Mandurah, the Peel region and locations throughout Australia, and overseas bringing their individual styles and perspectives to each work. Together, they create a rich and engaging exhibition that celebrates both artistic excellence and a deep appreciation for place.

The exhibition is free to attend, and all artworks will be available for purchase, offering visitors the opportunity to take home an original piece of local art while supporting the region's creative community.
Visitors to the exhibition can also vote for their favourite piece in the People’s Choice Award. The winning artist receives a gift pack that has been donated generously each year by Jacksons, Mandurah.
Approaching Landscapes continues to demonstrate the vibrant artistic spirit of Mandurah and the enduring appeal of locally created art. With 16 talented artists exhibiting this year, visitors can look forward to another memorable celebration of creativity, colour and connection to the landscapes that surround us.
