Albrecht Dürer artists' watercolour pencils provide artists with great versatility of expression when drawing, shading and painting in watercolours.

The coloured surface can be transformed with only a few fine or broad brush strokes to reveal the full and unique power of the colours. Depending on the paper being used, the pigments can be completely dissolved, and will then behave in the same way as classic watercolour paints.

Highly concentrated pigments produce rich, vibrant colour both dry and wet! They work beautifully as traditional coloured pencils and transform into watercolour when activated.

Polychromos artists' pencils have highly pigmented colours that provide strong colour payoff and excellent vibrancy. Most colours have outstanding fade resistance, making them suitable for artwork that will be displayed or sold. They use a vegetable oil and wax binder rather than a heavily wax-based core. This results in smoother layering, more precise control, and virtually no wax bloom (the cloudy film that can appear on some coloured pencil artwork). Multiple layers can be built gradually without the pencil becoming overly waxy. Finished work is less prone to smudging than some softer coloured pencils. 

Castell 9000 pencils are made from finely ground graphite and clay, producing smooth, consistent marks. They glide across paper without feeling scratchy, even in the harder grades.

The Castell 9000 is available in 16 different hardness grades, making it the perfect pencil for all technical and artistic applications. These grades cover everything from precise technical drawing and drafting to rich, dark shading and sketching.

The Black Edition colour pencils have a wonderfully soft and vibrant colour laydown thanks to their SuperSoft lead. The high pigmentation of the lead makes them ideal for painting and drawing techniques on light, coloured and dark paper. The softer, wax-based formula blends more easily than many harder artist pencils.

Use a wet paintbrush to turn your Goldfaber Aqua pencil drawings into beautiful watercolour paintings. The fully water-soluble lead blends easily with water, delivers vibrant colour, and offers excellent lightfastness to help your artwork stay bright over time.

Colours also remain bright whether used dry as coloured pencils or activated with water. The pigments dissolve smoothly with water to create washes, gradients, and traditional watercolour effects.
